Dear friends,

ELAW Fellow Bazarsad Nanjindorj arrived from Ulaanbaatar this week.  He is working to protect communities and wild spaces in Mongolia from polluting mines.

"The saddest part is seeing herders leave the lands of their ancestors," he says.  "They become laborers at the mines.  It's very disturbing."

Bazarsad is an attorney and collaborates with the Centre for Human Rights and Development. He recently founded a new organization, the Public Interest Lawyers' Initiative.

Bazarsad will collaborate with ELAW on his work to protect communities and the environment in Mongolia while improving his English at the University of Oregon's American English Institute.

Many thanks to the Trust for Mutual Understanding and the American English Institute for supporting Bazarsad's Fellowship!

All the best,
